Richard “Ricky” Allison Babb, 65, passed away on Sunday, January 31, 2021 at Vidant Medical Center in Greenville, NC. Born in Halifax County, NC on March 8, 1955, he is the son of Ida Sims Braswell Babb of Brunswick County, VA and the late Allison Coolidge Babb.

Richard was a Flock Advisor for Perdue Farms where he served 39 years of dedicated service. He was a faithful member of Black Jack Original Free Will Baptist Church where he had served as a Deacon and as Sunday School Superintendent.

Richard grew up on a tobacco farm where he enjoyed farming and working the land. He enjoyed watching NASCAR and the opportunity to go camping in the mountains. Richard was an avid supporter of his daughters in their sporting endeavors and FFA membership. Richard always enjoyed a good laugh and telling a funny story, and taking rides through the country on his pickup truck.

Graveside services will be Saturday, February 6th, at 11 am in the James Square Baptist Church Cemetery, in Lawrenceville, Virginia, with Rev. Pete Radford and Rev. Franklin Lane officiating. The family will receive friends in the cemetery, following the service. Attendees are asked to practice social distancing and wear masks.

In addition to his mother, Richard is survived by his wife, Linda; daughters, Allison Paige Babb of Goldsboro and Karen Babb Craft and husband, Shane of Walstonburg; grandchildren, Olivia Lloyd Craft and Elizabeth Carol Craft; sisters, Diane Grizzard and husband, WT of Lawrenceville, VA, Sharon Wheeley and husband, Frankee of South Hill, VA, Ellen Cooke and husband, David of South Hill, VA, and Amy Barner of Emporia, VA; brother-in-law, Jeff Martin of Lynchburg, VA; sister-in-law, Patti Winslow and husband, Ray of Suffolk, VA; numerous nieces and nephews; a special friend, Sally Pope; and his many co-workers at Perdue.

In addition to his father, he was preceded in death by his sister, Sheila Martin.
