Shirley Ann Munster Peterson passed away peacefully on February 5th in Lincoln. Shirley was born on March 10, 1931, in Grant to Harry and Gladys (Frahm) Moller. Shirley and her younger sister and brothers grew up on the family farm directly north of Grant. She graduated from Perkins County High School and Barnes College in Denver. Following school, she returned to Nebraska and took a job with the First National Bank in Ogallala. Within a short time she met Calvin Munster, who made regular stops at the bank while working for Searle’s. The two were married on June 13, 1954 at Zion Lutheran Church in Grant and they honeymooned in New Orleans. The couple made their first home on North Spruce Street in Ogallala.

Shirley was devoted to her family. She and her siblings had a tight bond and have supported each other always. Her children Kent, Sheila, and Corey remember her penchant for organization and her love of projects large and small. In later years she enjoyed working at Edgar’s Jewelry and Trail’s End Gifts in Ogallala. She was a longtime member of St. Paul’s Lutheran Church.

Following the death of her husband Calvin in 1987, Shirley married Rex L. Peterson on September 19, 1993, at the University Lutheran Chapel in Lincoln. Following Rex’s passing in 2014 Shirley moved to Lincoln to be nearer to her children. She has been a resident of the Waterford at Wilderness Hills since 2016.

Survivors include her son Kent Munster of Lincoln, her daughter and son-in-law Sheila and Robert Wistrom of Omaha, and son Corey Munster of Fremont. She is also survived by her grandsons Ethan Munster of Julesburg, Colorado and Colin Munster of Haxtun, Colorado, great granddaughter Ava, brother Hugh Moller of Grant, brother Lynn Moller of Fairfax, Virginia, nieces Lisa Hulitzky of Bronxville, New York and Tara King of Bloomington, Minnesota, nephews Derek Hulitzky of Attleboro, Massachusetts, and Grant Moller, Fairfax, Virginia. Shirley’s sister Loretta Hulitzky of Medfield, Massachusetts passed in 2020.
