Mother, Mom, Ma, MawMaw, Liz or Lizzie, as she was so lovingly called by friends and family , taught us that love is an action word. She said it is not all in what you say but in what you do. All the children in the community loved “Miss Liz”. She was instrumental in teaching children to play games be it jacks marbles, Upwards or the word game, Scrabble. Mother taught us that spending time with family is important. Her visits from her grandchildren were always good but the visits from her great-grandchildren brought a big smile and joy to her.
Some of her favorite things were listening to Gospel music, wearing beautiful sweaters, nice smelling perfumes and eating chocolate candy.
As we shall surely miss her, we do not wish her back here, for as she spoke to the family during her last days on earth, “Praise God I’m walking.” For we are sure that she has “entered into His gates with thanksgiving, enter into His courts with praise……” Psalms 100
