Monday, February 1, 2021. She was born on April 26, 1927 in Evansville, IN and grew up traveling around the county with her father’s work. Virginia will rest in peace at The Chapel of the Light in Fresno, CA (www.chapelofthelight.com) where she will join her husband of 47 years, Leslie N. Reid who passed away in 1990
Virginia lived in Fresno, CA for 64 years. She was a librarian at Fresno County Library for over 50 years. Virginia was a huge part of the creation of the San Joaquin Valley Information Center started several decades ago, and was honored by the state of California for her accomplishments. Virginia is still well known in the Library system today. She also did the research involved in books written by 3 well known authors. No matter where Virginia traveled, she had to “check out” the local library.
Virginia has spent the past 10 years living in Pleasanton, CA to be near her granddaughter, Eryn, and her great-grandchildren. She was a volunteer at Lydiksen Elementary Schools where she faithfully filed papers and chatted with students. To the students and parents, she was known as ‘Gramma’. She enjoyed going to the Pleasanton Senior Center for lunches and bingo and other activities. Virginia has always been a very thoughtful and caring person who touched a lot of lives. Virginia was a wonderful loving mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother.
Virginia is survived by her daughter, Carrie Karikka, son Terry Reid & his wife Phyllis, granddaughter, Eryn Neidle & her husband Craig, grandson Kurt Karikka & wife Sandy, great-granddaughters Ariana Karikka & Sarah Neidle, and great-grandson Joshua Neidle.
