Mrs. Brenda Sullivan, age 70 of Fayette, passed away Saturday, February 6, 2021 at Northport Medical Center, leaving behind a legacy of faith that spans three generations.

Brenda was first and foremost a preacher’s wife and a mother. She raised 5 children, and those children, along with their families, were her life. She was a stay at home mom who prepared her children for school before they were old enough to go. But most importantly, she taught them about Jesus and how to pray from a very young age. She did that because she loved Jesus herself, and she radiated a love for the Lord and for people.

She was an accomplished seamstress and cook who welcomed guests at her dinner table and hosted family gatherings during the holidays. With all her responsibilities at home, she still managed to serve the Lord through the church as her husband’s ministry partner.

Funeral services will be held Monday, February 8, 2021 at 2-P.M. from Nelson Funeral Home Chapel. Burial will follow in Fayette Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends Monday from 1-2 P.M. at the funeral home. Carlos Dean, Wade Phillips and Bill Sullivan will officiate. Social distancing and face mask are required for the service.

Survivors include her husband: Billy Carl Sullivan of Fayette, son: Bill Sullivan (Candace) of Fayette, daughters: Sherry Corbett (Rodney) of Fayette, Janet Watts of Fayette, Gina Selman (Turk) of Fayette, Crystal Phillips (Wade) of Meridian, MS, brother: Ronald Duckworth, sisters: Kathleen Sprinkle, Doris Johnson, Laeuna McCaleb, Edna McCollough, Willie Mae Taylor (Gary), Angie Rainey (Womack), Annette Moore (Dennis), Gennette Hester, Linda Jordan, 11 grandchildren, and 5 great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents: Hobert and Jewel Gilpin Duckworth, and brothers: Leon, Donald, and Dwayne Duckworth.

Active pallbearers will be: Blake Sanford, Jake Corbett, Taylor Trimm, Sam Selman, Reed Phillips, and Carrson Sullivan.

Honorary pallbearers will be: Northport DCH ICU nurses.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Christian Center of Concern or Fayette County Baptist Association.
