Robert V. McCarthy, 90, of Exeter Twp., passed away February 2, 2021 at Berkshire Commons. Bob is survived by his loving wife Barbara A. (Natole) McCarthy. Born in Reading, he was a son of the late Thomas V. McCarthy and Mary R. (Parker) Winters Reicheneder. In addition to his wife, Bob is survived by his stepdaughter, Cynthia L. Enzman, of Exeter Twp. and his stepson Stanford R. husband of Toni Howe of Tulpehocken Twp. Also surviving are a sister Maryann widow of Samuel Leonti and several nieces and nephews. Bob was predeceased by a sister Helen J. Grim and brother James Daley.

Bob was a 1947 graduate of Reading High School. He served his country in the United States Army, during the Korean Conflict, serving as a SFC Platoon Sgt. with the Seventh INF Regt. 3rd ID. He was trained in the Universal Military Training Experimental Unit in 1947 at Fort Knox Ky. Bob was discharged in 1954 due to disability. Bob was a 1956 graduate of Industrial Management Institute, Reading. He was employed for 40 years by Western Electric and AT&T Reading Works as a silicon crystal grower and later as a security officer, retiring in 1995. He was a faithful parishioner of St. Mary Roman Catholic Church, Reading. Bob was also a member of the Army officer candidate Regiment of Fort Riley, Kansas, he was a life member of Disabled American Veterans, Reading and Post 3975 Auburn PA, and of Gregg Post 12 American Legion, Reading.

Relatives and friends may extend their sympathy and respects to the family on Tuesday February 9, 2021 from 8:15am to 9:15am at the Kopicki-Bradley Funeral Home, Inc. 239 South Ninth Street Reading PA 19602. The Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:00am at St. Mary Roman Catholic Church 250 South Twelfth Street Reading PA 19602. Interment with military honors will follow in St. Mary R.C. Cemetery, Reading.
