Charles Max Dye, of Vestavia Hills, Alabama, passed away on January 12, 2021 at the age of 85
He was survived by his wife, Peggy Doss Dye; daughters Sherry (Jimmy) Parrish and Katherine (Wendell) Blount; six grandchildren: Taylor Shaw, Melissa (Kevin) Smith, Bradford Blount, Amy (Jeff) Corbitt, Jim (Deena) Parrish, and Meg (Kurt) Branch; nine great grandchildren: Avery Smith, Peyton Smith, Jake Corbitt, Brooke Corbitt, Blakely Parrish, Jack Branch, Abby Parrish, Charlie Branch, and Maggie Parrish; sister Val Moore; brother James (Dorothy) Dye; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Mr. Dye was born November 3, 1935 in Lawrenceburg, Tennessee to Herschel Z. Dye (1913 - 1985) and Joyce K. Dye (1914 - 2004).
Charles graduated from Sidney Lanier High School in Montgomery, Alabama and afterwards studied and taught technical drawing.
Mr. Dye's expertise in this area provided an opportunity for him to create technical drawings for NASA's Saturn V rocket while working for Hayes International and the Martin Company. One of his drawings is displayed at the Huntsville Space and Rocket Museum. An entrepreneur at heart, Charles Dye started his own business in 1961 and developed the company, Paramount Services Incorporated, into a multi-state linen rental corporation. As a former president and board of director for the Southeastern Textile Rental Association,
Mr. Dye was respected both personally and professionally for his integrity, ethics, and compassion for others. He was a servant leader at heart and could be seen leading and working alongside his employees while encouraging them in their personal lives and sharing his love and faith in Jesus.
Charles was a member of Dawson Memorial Baptist Church and served as a deacon, Stephen Ministry leader, and leader in numerous committees and was valued and respected for his wisdom and respectful demeanor. His passion for foreign missions led Mr. Dye to serve others in Nova Scotia, Germany, and Sudan while sharing the love of Christ through church-led projects.
Charles Dye had many passions, from fishing to riding his Harley Davidson motorcycle to traveling; however, his greatest pleasure was in spending time with his family. He loved being called Dad, Daddy, Granddad, and Daddy Dye and those special names always brought a smile to his face and a favorite story to share.
Charles' greatest love was his wife of 64 years, Peggy Doss Dye. Through their personal and professional relationships, they were hardly ever apart.
The family held a private graveside service at Ridout's Southern Heritage Funeral Home in Pelham, Alabama on Sunday, January 17, 2021. There will be a Celebration of Life service to honor Mr. Dye at Dawson Memorial Baptist Church on Saturday, February 6, 2021 at 11:00 a.m. in the main sanctuary.
