Julia never married and left no issue. She was an accomplished teacher and apparently loved to travel the world. In 1915, she invited her nephew John Hartwell Bennett to join her in Pasadena, California. John left a diary that mentions his summer with "Auntie." They saw museums, art shows, music performances and a whole host of activities. She was prone to give advice and apparently (from letters) everyone respected her. She is quite beautiful, no?

She lived part of her life with the John B. Hartwell Family in Lockport, New York, and then part with the Calvin Patterson Family in Brooklyn, New York, which is where she taught. Apparently at the early Pratt Institute.
