Robert Colwell, age 65 of Purcell, entered into rest Saturday, January 30, 2021, at Norman Regional Healthplex.  Robert Andrew Colwell was born February 9, 1955 in Purcell, 1 of 3 children of Huston and Joy (Carr) Colwell.  He lived most of his life in Purcell and Okla. City, where he attended Southeast High School.  By 1973, the Colwell’s had had returned back home to Purcell.  Robert liked building cars, and the faster the car, the more he liked it.  He was an avid outdoorsman.  He enjoyed fishing and hunting and he loved to go camping.  Robert spent most of his working life in construction, until an accident prevented him from doing so.  Robert fell two stories while working on the prison, breaking his back, but not his will.  And although he was never able to return to construction, he drove a truck for many years, hauling fuel and later rock.  In November of 2002, Robert married Lawana Martin and together they raised their only daughter, Courtney.  Robert was fun loving, caring and a good man; a wonderful husband, dad, Papa, son and brother.   He was dearly loved and will be missed!

He was preceded in death by: his parents, Huston and Joy Colwell.

Robert is survived by: the love of his life and mother of his children, Lawana Colwell of the home; Daughter, Courtney Colwell and her daughter, Autumn, both of the home; Step daughter, Brittany Cooksey and husband Cody and their children, Kamlynn and Silas of Moore; brother Rick Colwell and wife Jan of Purcell and sister, Verna Hernandez and husband Pablo of Purcell; several nieces and nephews and many friends.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggest memorials be made to the American Lung Association in Robert’s memory.

Funeral Services are scheduled for 2:00 P.M. Thursday, February 4, 2021, at Little’s Chapel.  Burial will follow at Hillside Cemetery in Purcell.  Mask’s are encouraged for those wishing to attend, and the service will be livestreamed on our website, www.wilsonlittle.com and our Facebook page, Wilson Little.
