Arnellis (Arnie) Jenkins Speir

Arnellis J. Speir 87, known to everyone as Arnie, of Pooler, GA passed away Monday, September 17, 2018 at her home. Arnie was a homemaker and a caregiver her whole life. Arnie loved people and taught many children as a Sunday School teacher and later served as the president of her church's senior group. Arnie was an avid reader and loved to do sewing and scrapbooking. She was a member of First Baptist Church of Garden City. She loved her church where she was always seen at the church's library. She was a member of the Lydian Sunday School Class.

Arnie was preceded in death by her husband, Valmore M Speir, her parents, Harvey and Idell Jenkins, two sisters and one brother. She is survived by one son Larry and his wife Carolyn of Pooler, GA, a daughter Debra Speir Ashley and her husband Jim of Gainesville, GA, and a daughter Susan Speir of Grovetown, GA. Arnie is also survived by one grandson Robert Speir and his wife Lindsey of St Louis, MO, along with two step granddaughters Sydney Yarbrough of Athens, GA and LandreeRhein of Durham, NC. She is survived by two sisters, Gail Keyes and Margie Karst, both of Edinburg,TX, along with several nieces and nephews. Arnie is survived by her "granddaughter" Gracie, the basset hound.

Visitation will be Friday, September 21, 2018 from 10:00 am - 11:00 am at the Baker McCullough Funeral Home Garden City. The service will follow at 11:00 AM in the Funeral Home Chapel. Burial will be at Bonaventure Cemetery following the service.

Pallbearers will be Jim Ashley, Robert Speir, Billy Salyer, Dusty Reynolds, Dane Moore, and Douglas Cone. Honorary Pallbearers will be members of her Sunday School class.

In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to First Baptist Church of Garden City Library or Building Fund.

The family has entrusted Baker McCullough Funeral Home Garden City Chapel, 2794 West US Highway 80, Garden City Georgia 31408 with services.
