Ms. Sowell was born in Christian County, KY, on November 22, 1947, the daughter of the late Lyman Lafayette and Mildred Cameron McCain. She retired from BB&T after 36 years of service. She was a lifelong member of Pembroke Baptist Church where she served as the Financial Secretary, was a member of the social committee and choir, and was a Sunday school teacher. Judy was a lifetime fair board member of the Western Kentucky State Fair and volunteered at the Christian County Animal Shelter. Others also knew her for her sour dough bread and other baked goods.
Survivors include her son, Anthony Tatum of Pembroke; her daughter, Angie Tatum of Antioch, TN; her brother, Teddy McCain and his wife Janie of Clarksville; her sisters, Toni Bagwell and her husband Randy of Clarksville, and Kathy Freyer and her husband David of Guthrie; three grandchildren, Justin Thornton of Colorado, Chelsea Tatum of Pembroke, and Cameron Tatum of Pembroke. There are several nieces and nephews and great nieces and great nephews who survive her.
