Donald worked as a custodian for 14 years at Foamex Corporation. He was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church and Sacred Heart Catholic Church Choir.

Donald is survived by two daughters, four grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded by his parents; sisters, Lillie May and Betty Ellen Hartley; brothers, Robert Hartley, Chuck Hartley, and John Hartley; and his first wife, Mammie Hartley.
