Betty Jane Ayers, 86, of Shinnston passed away on February 5, 2021 at her home with her family by her side. She was born on August 28, 1934 to the late Alvin Cain and Mary Guiterez Cain.
She is survived by her children; Mary Kaye Greider and her companion James DeBolt of Clarksburg, WV, Rosalyn Hamrick and her husband Jim of Trinity, TX, Jan Lemley and her husband Steve of Mt. Morris, PA, Karen Lanham and her husband Eugene of Shinnston, WV, Tina Carson and her companion Dave Meadows of Clarksburg, WV; sisters, Marie Swiger of Shinnston, WV, Wilma Chrastina and her husband Bill of Shinnston, WV; grandchildren Tera Clark, Shea Clark, Brian (Jess) Grieder, Michael (Joyce) Grieder, Dennis (Christina) Grieder, Jay (Clarice) Hamrick, Wes (Melissa) Hamrick, Brady (Jessica) Lanham, Jason Lanham, Rusty Lanham, Mandi (Sean) Brown, Candi (Aaron) Toothman and Kristi Carson; 19 great-grandchildren.
Along with her parents Betty was preceded in death by her husband Salvatore "Bud" Ayers and her siblings, Robert "Bob" Cain, Gail "Corey" Cain, Denny Cain and Mary Louise Vincent.
Betty attended the First Baptist Church in Enterprise and was a member of the American Legion Auxiliary Post 31. She enjoyed canning fruits and veggies, working in her flower garden and loved feeding and watching the birds in her back yard.
Friends and family will be received at Harmer Funeral Home, 300 Pike Street, Shinnston WV,
from 2:00 PM to 8:00 PM on Sunday, February 7, 2021 and a funeral service will be held on Monday, February 8, 2021 at 1:00 PM at the Shinnston Memorial Cemetery Mausoleum with Pastor Mike Kirby officiating.
