He attended school in Gypsum, Ohio, graduated from Port Clinton High School and Tiffin University. He was a veteran of the United States Marine Corps, serving during the Korean War. He was the great-great-great-great grandson of Capt. Andrew Friend, a captain in the American Revolution.
He was an accountant for Ford Motor Company, retiring in 1986. He loved snow skiing, traveling, and cruising.
Survivors include his wife, Arlene; son, Dan (Debora) Carr; granddaughters, Rachel and Rebecca Carr; and sister, Carolyn Gibbs. He was preceded in death by his parents; sister, Ruth Rogers VanHoose; and brothers, Melvin Carr, John Carr, and Lowell Carr.
Visitation will be held on Sunday, February 14, 2021 from 11:30 am until the Funeral Service at 12:30 pm at Trinity United Methodist Church, 135 Adams Street, Port Clinton, Ohio, with Pastor Warren Brown officiating. Face Masks will be required and social distancing guidelines observed. Burial will be private at Riverview Cemetery, Port Clinton.
