Kimberly Parker Bennett, 36, passed away suddenly March 10, 1989 in Kailua, Hawaii.

Kimberly was born to Ruby and Herbert Parker in Akron, Feb 23, 1953. She lived most of her life in Akron. At an early age, she accepted the Lord Jesus Christ as her Savior and became a member of Morning Star Baptist Church under the pastorage of Rev. C. R. Gladman. She attended North High School, and was very active in school functions. She graduated in 1971, having served as a senior class officer, and received the school's highest honor, the Womanhood Award. Kim had a God-given talent for speaking. God also blessed her with the ability to sing His praises. She was a finalist in the National Elks Oratory Contest. Kim remained active throughout her college years. While attending Bowling Green State University, she was one of the outstanding soloists with the Derrick Roberts Ensemble. She sang with the Bowling Green State University Gospel Choir, under the direction of Gregg Smith. She was an officer of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, and graduated from Bowling Green in 1975 with a Bachelor of Science degree in Speech and Hearing. On May 6, 1978, she was united in Holy Matrimony to Gunnery Sgt. John Bennett. To this union was born three sons and one daughter. "Entreat me not to leave thee, or to return from following after thee; for whither thou goest, I will go, and where thou lodgest. Thy people shall be my people, and thy God my God" (Ruth 1:16). This passage became very meaningful to Kim, because it embodied what she did. Kim accompanied her husband around the country during his tour of duty in the Marine Corps. Kim would always become active with a church in each location where her husband was stationed; Paris Island, S. C., Twenty-Nine Palms, Calif. and Honolulu, Hawaii. It was while in Hawaii that the family fostered a spiritual home in the Tabernacle of Holiness Church under the leadership of Pastor Restee Collins. Kimberly's avid love of music flourished most recently in a singing role in an opera performed in Hawaii. On March 10, 1989, in Kailua, Hawaii, Kimberly Parker Bennett's earthly mission of dedication came to an end. In that faraway land, she made the transition from earth to eternity. To meet her was to love her. With the burden of motherhood on her shoulders, she was able to carry it with a smile. For when the house was still, she talked with God alone. She walked in paths that would be good, not only for her children, but for other who might go that way. She was a delight to her friends, a joy to her family, and a source of good will to the stronger. She lived as she died, serene and beautiful.

She was preceded in death by her father, Herbert R. Parker; sons, Ian Chandler and Cameron Scott, and leaves to cherish her memory, a loving husband, Johnny; son, Leslie Jamieson; daughter, McKenzie Rae, all of Hawaii; stepdaughter, Twila Rose; stepson, John III; mother, Ruby Parker; sister, Leslie Parker Barnes; mother and father-in-law, Evelyn and John Bennett, all of Akron; a host of other relatives and friends.

Funeral services Tuesday, 1 p.m., at Arlington Church of God, Rev. C. R. Goodman officiating, assisted by Rev. Roy Gary and Rev. Frank Morse. Interment at Mt. Peace Cemetery. Friends may call at the church after 10 a.m. Tuesday. Procession will form, and condolences may be sent to 116 E. North St., Apt. B. (JERRY JONES JR. FUNERAL SERVICES, 253-9484)
