Mr. William Franklin Manning, 81, went to be with his Lord and Savior on Tuesday February 2, 2021.

The funeral service will be held at 2:30 pm Saturday in the Wilkerson Funeral Home Chapel. The family will receive friends prior to the service beginning at 1:30. Burial will follow in Manning Family Cemetery.

Franklin was born in Pitt County and a resident of Calico all his life. He was a mechanic for heavy equipment and also a long haul trucker for a number of years. He enjoyed reading, collecting coins, camping, fishing and riding horses. He attended Lighthouse Church of God and also Lifegate Baptist Church.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Bennie Franklin Manning and Evelyn Coward; a son, Bryan Wayne Manning and a brother, Bobby Randall Manning.

He is survived by his wife of 50 years, Beulah Mellisa Penny Manning of Calico; daughter, Annette Harris and husband, Jimmy, of Chicod; son, Bennie Manning and wife, Ginger, of Calico; grandchildren, Bambi Manning, Bryan Manning and wife, Rachel, Brandon Manning, Jimmy Harris Jr. and wife, Samantha, Jordan Harris, Emily Harris, Sarah Manning, and Hannah Manning; great-grandchildren, Jayden, Brennon, Mason, Lydia and Kinley; niece, Tammy Payne and husband, David; sisters-in-law, Linda Sue Penny, Peggy Ann Penny, Letha Mae Humphrey and husband, Julian, and Mary Ida Griffin and husband, Fred; brothers-in-law, Lester Penny, Louis Penny and Heber Penny and wife, Betty Jean; and numerous nieces and nephews.
