Sue spent most of her life in Menominee and was a graduate of Menominee High School, Class of 1961.
She went on to attend St. Olaf College in Minnesota where she majored in music and earned a degree in elementary education, later earning a master’s degree in string instruments from the University of Colorado-Boulder. Sue first taught elementary music in the Oconto School District.
On June 12, 1971, she married Richard W. Jones at Emmanuel Lutheran Church in Menominee.
Sue and Richard met at the play, “Camelot,” through friends Ruth and Jerry Thiex and Sherry Johnson.
Sue began playing as organist of Emmanuel Lutheran Church at the age of 13 and spent over 30 years serving as organist. She was also choir director at Emmanuel and director of the Emmanuel Good Life Singers. Sue also taught piano and guitar privately.
Later, Sue served as executive director of the American Red Cross Chapter of Marinette and was a member and Regent of the Daughters of the American Revolution, Marinette Chapter.
Sue is survived by one son Jeremy (Naomi) Jones;
and grandson Greyson Jones, of Menominee, MI;
a niece Marin L. Heinritz of Kalamazoo, MI;
and special friends: Ruth Thiex, Rev. Cheryl Johnson and Joe Miron.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband Richard Jones; a brother John Heinritz; grandson Isaac Jones; and special friends: Jerry Thiex and Evelyn Miron.
Due to Covid 19, a celebration of Sue’s life will be scheduled at a later date.
