Born on 25 Aug 1957 in Beckley, he was the son of the late James Elmer Lilly and Virginia Cadle Lilly.
Mr. Lilly was formerly employed at Radford and Radford Construction Company as a block mason.
James was a member of the Allied Brick Layers Union, and was an avid horse person.
Friends and family knew him as "Cornbred" Lilly.
Other than his parents, he was preceded in death by an infant brother, Chuckie.
Surviving are his wife of 23 years, a son, and his wife , and their son, a daughter, and her son, two brothers, and a sister also survive.
There will be no services or visitation.
