James was born on April 16, 1943 to Alpha and Lessie Mott. He was in the Army and then worked Civil Service for 29 years until he retired. James was an active member of Northview Baptist Church where he served faithfully as a Deacon and any other place he was needed.
He is preceded in death by his parents and his siblings, Howard Mott, Carl Mott, Hazel Huggins, Judson Mott and Violet Bitzer.
James was a loving and kind husband, dad, grandpa, and brother. He loved his family and would do anything for them. Survivors include his wife of 50 years, Bonnie; his daughter, Kristine (Dave) Taylor; his son, Jason (Laura) Mott; his brother, Lamar (Bonnie) Mott; his sisters, Evelyn (Jack) Barrow, Thelma Bowdoin and Marguerite Van Nostrand; grandchildren, Justin (Brook) Devries, Westley (Jessica) Devries, McKenzie Mott and Madisyn Mott and great grandchildren, Jaiden, Jordan, Autumn and Jackson.
Graveside services will be Thursday, February 11, 2021 at 2:30 pm at Barrancas National Cemetery with Pastor Keith Mott officiating. The procession will meet at 1:30 pm at Olive-Baptist Church Warrington Campus, 103 West Winthrop Avenue, Pensacola, Florida 32507.
