Sylvia Tillmon Perry was born on April 10, 1954 in Riverhead, New York to Adella and Sammie Tillmon. She was the first of five children. Sammie Tillmon, Debbie Mason, Robin Belger, and Billie Tillmon. Sylvia spent her early years growing up in Suffolk County, Long Island. She continued to live in the New York area until she graduated from Wyandanch High School in 1972.

Sylvia ultimately moved from the New York area to the Midwest city of Omaha, NE. It was in Omaha where Sylvia met and married the love of her life, Tony Lamont Perry. They were married on July 10, 1981. While in Omaha, Sylvia was a faithful member of Mt. Zion C.O.G.I.C. In 1987, Sylvia and Tony with daughter Jinae relocated to Houston, Texas. At that time, Sylvia joined Law Memorial C.O.G.I.C. where she was a faithful servant, serving in the finance department. She made many lifelong friends that became family.

In 1997, Sylvia relocated to Minneapolis, MN with husband Tony and daughter Jinae. In Minneapolis she built more lifelong friendships. In Minneapolis, Sylvia was a faithful member and servant of Emmanuel Tabernacle C.O.G. I. C. where she also served on the finance committee and pastoral aid committee.

In 2011, Sylvia and Tony relocated back to Houston, TX where daughter and son in law, Jinae and Shannon Spear were located in anticipation of grandchildren. Grandchildren for Sylvia came shortly after the relocation. In 2012, her first grandchildren were born, Gia and Gabrielle. In 2016, she became a grandmother again with grandson Grayson.

Over the last 10 years, Sylvia has been an active member of Above and Beyond Fellowship in Spring, Texas. She once again made lifelong friends that became like family. Sylvia never met a stranger. She was known for her ease of conversation and friendly smile.

In her spare time you could find her curled up on the couch with a blanket and a word search puzzle. She loved to keep her mind active.

Sylvia spent her career in Payroll, and the 15 years before retirement as a Senior Payroll Tax Analyst. She retired from Aon Hewitt in 2016.

Sylvia was preceded in death by her parents, Adella and Sammie Tillmon, younger brother Sammie Tillmon, Jr., and son Tony Lamont Perry II (infant).

Sylvia entered eternal rest on February 1, 2021.

Sylvia leaves to cherish her memory: her husband of 39 years, Tony Perry (Houston, TX), one daughter and son in-law, Jinae and Shannon Spear (Houston, TX), three grandchildren, Gia, Gabrielle, and Grayson Spear (Houston, TX).

She also leaves two sisters, Debbie Mason (Cleveland, OH) and Robin Belger (Helmet, CA), and one brother, Billie Tillmon (Coalinga, CA) to cherish her memory. She also leaves behind several sisters and brothers in-law, nieces, nephews, family, friends, and neighbors whom she loved dearly.
