Graveside services will be at 1:00 p.m. in Artesia at Woodbine Cemetery under the direction of Ballard Funeral Home.
Ms. Johnson passed away on Friday, October 2, 1998 at Eastern New Mexico Medical Center in Roswell.
She was born in Hope, N. M. on January 4, 1911 to Noel L. Johnson and Nora Lee Coleman Johnson whose family homesteaded in the Hope area. She lived in the Hope, Artesia area as a young woman until she began a career in civil service working in the hospital accounting office at Walker Air Force Base in Roswell. In 1967 when Walker AFB was closed she relocated to Luke Air Force Base in Glendale, AZ. until she retired in1971 when she returned to Roswell.
She was a lifelong member of the United Methodist Church and attended the First United Methodist Church in Roswell where her grandmother, Helen Johnson, was instrumental in starting in 1885.
Survivors include one sister, Marjorie Cooney of Lake Oswego, Oregon. She was preceded in death by her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Noel L Johnson; two brothers, Wallace Johnson and Max Johnson; two sisters, Katherine Attebery and Hazel Belle Dunne. She is also survived by numerous nephews, nieces and cousins.
