Vernon Owen “Pete” Williams, 93, of Greene County, MO was promoted into the presence of his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on Wednesday, January 27, 2021. He was born on Thursday, July 7, 1927 in Amory, MS to Georgia Louise White and Luther Thomas Williams.
Pete was a World War II Veteran of the U.S. Navy, service of which he was honored and proud. He retired from the Frisco/Burlington Northern Railroad. Pete was a member for over 60 years at the Gate of the Temple No. 422 AF:M and a 32nd degree member of the Scottish Rite of Freemasonry. He was a member of the American Veterans Post MO-0178 and after retirement enjoyed working on the farm and helping friends and neighbors.
Pete was preceded by his wife of 62 years Helen, one daughter Nancy Ann Holder, his parents, five brothers and two sisters.
He is survived by one son retired CAPT Vernon “Tom” Williams (wife Christy), one grandson Judah Holden, one son-in-law John Holden and numerous nieces, nephews, friends and family.
A visitation will be held from 11-1 PM on Tuesday, February 9, 2021 at the Klingner-Cope Family Funeral Home at White Chapel, 5234 W. State Hwy EE, Springfield, MO 65802 with funeral services to follow at 1 PM. Full military honors will be conducted immediately after services. Burial will take place at the Robberson Prairie cemetery.
