Richard Arthur Best, 67, of Tiffin, died at 10:32 p.m., Tuesday, Feb. 2, 2021, in the Emergency Room of Mercy Health Tiffin Hospital.



Richard was born April 16, 1953, in Fostoria to Raymond Arthur and Elizabeth Ann (Valenti) Handley. He married Theresa Jane Keefe Sept. 16, 1972, in St. Mary Catholic Church and she survives in Tiffin.



Other survivors include a son, Jeremy Richard (Ronele Myers) Best of Tiffin, two daughters, Rhonda Lynn Best of Tiffin, Laura Marie (Erik Diaz) Best of Akron; four grandchildren, Ammon Joseph (Alisha Yoder) Best, Isaac Benjamin (Sophia Weaver) Best, Vincent Campbell and Annika Campbell; three brothers, Mark (Christine) Handley of Crown Point, Ind., Greg (Diane) Handley of Phoenix, Ariz., Robert Best, Jr. of Alaska; and a sister Dawn (Alan) Perucca of Chicago, Ill., and step-mother, Betty Handley, Crown Point, Ind.



He was preceded in death by his parents, two sisters, Renee Best and Bobbi Jo Best and step-father, Robert Best.



Richard was a loving and wonderful husband, father and grandfather. He was a 1971 graduate of Tiffin Columbian High School and he also attended Fostoria High School. He retired from American Standard and was a member of St. Mary Catholic Church. He enjoyed golfing at Seneca Hills Golf Course, drag racing, guitar, and he was a Commissioner and a coach for the Ponytail Softball league for 10 years. He was an avid Beatles and New York Yankees fan. Richard's life will continue in others by his gift of being an organ donor.



There will be no visitation. The funeral Mass will be 10 a.m. Monday, Feb. 8, 2021, at St. Mary Catholic Church with Rev. Gary Walters officiating. The rosary will be recited 30 minutes prior to the Mass at the church. Burial will take place in St. Mary's Catholic Cemetery at a later date. The funeral Mass will be live-streamed at www.stmarychurch.com for those not able to attend.

Memorial contributions may be made to St. Jude Research Hospital, St. Mary Catholic Church, or to Honor Flight.
