April Louise Scott was born on July 22, 1953, in Ellensburg, Kittitas, Washington, to Thaddeus LeRoy and Mary Katherine Foster Scott. She was the third child in her family, joining older sisters, Winifred Alice and Katherine Eve. Two more brothers, Robert Bruce and Thomas Arthur joined her family while they lived in Cle Elum, Washington. In 1959 the Scott family moved to Hayward, California where April's father taught at Tennyson High School.

April was bright, beautiful and had musical talents that included playing the piano, singing, and playing the guitar. She was a loving, kind, and thoughtful aunt and sister. She attended college for several years. While in her early 20's she began suffering from schizophrenia. Although she took medication, she was never able to overcome her mental condition. April talked about "hearing voices" that tormented her daily. She lived at home in Hayward, California with her family for many years until her parents' deaths and then moved to Santa Clarita, California where her older sister, Windee, lived.

When April was 43 years old she went off her medication and slipped back into a delusional, paranoid mental state. At this time she succeeded in ending her life on August 2, 1996.

She is remembered as a beloved daughter, sister, and aunt by her family.
