Ruth Matthews, 92, of Pensacola, passed away February 1, 2021. She was born in Pensacola on February 23, 1928 to Thomas and Alice Hollihand. She was married to Dwight Irvin Matthews for 48 years.
She had a passion for making quilts, even for the homeless, embroidering and being a homemaker.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, infant daughter Mary Alice, two brothers; Thomas and her twin Robert. Sisters; June Bobo, Virginia Smoot, and Sr. Mechtilde, O.S.B., great-granddaughter, Mariah McInnes, and great-grandson Samuel Matthews.
She is survived by her five sons; Thomas (Rosalie), Larry (Linda), Michael (Donna), Andrew, Alan (Lorelei), ten grandchildren, twenty-one great-grandchildren, and two great-great-grandchildren, her sister Annette Hollihand as well as many nieces and nephews.
