Mr. John C. Vickery, age 91, of Powder Springs, Georgia passed away on Wednesday, February 3, 2021 following several months of declining health. A native of Marion County, Florida, Mr. Vickery was born on November 12, 1929, the son of the late John Bunyon Vickery and Bertha Walters Vickery. He was a member of the Macland Baptist Church and proudly served his country in the United States Army during the Korean Conflict and served many years in the Army National Guard. He was preceded in death by his first wife, Edna Webster Vickery, three brothers and three sisters. Mr. Vickery enjoyed traveling especially to Hawaii, and working on old cars and trucks.
Survivors include his wife, Gloria Miller Vickery to whom he was married in 2002. One daughter and son-in-law, Sue and Donald Croker of Cedar Bluff, Al. One step-daughter, Debbie Teal of Lawrenceville, Georgia. Two grandsons, John Gabriel Croker and Donald “Jack” Croker, Jr. Two step-great grandchildren, Lettie and Elsie Castano. Three great grandchildren, Daniel, Jonathan, and Memphis Croker. A number of nieces and nephews also survive.
Funeral services will be conducted on Saturday, February 6, 2021 at 1:00 p.m. from the Chapel of the Bellamy Funeral Home. Military honors will follow the services in the chapel.
The family will receive friends on Saturday from 12 noon until the funeral hour.
Private burial will follow in the Cheatham Hill Memorial Gardens.
