LAFAYETTE- Funeral services will be held Monday, February 8, 2021 at an 11:00 a.m. Mass of Christian Burial in Our Lady Queen of Peace Catholic Church for Samuel Porter, Sr., who passed away Monday, February 1, 2021 at his residence in Lafayette.

Interment will be in Calvary Cemetery in Lafayette.

Mr. Porter was a native of Loreauville and lifelong resident of Lafayette. He was the successful owner and operator of Samuel Porter Builder, Inc. as a building contractor for over 40 years. A devout Catholic, he was a parishioner of Our Lady Queen of Peace Catholic Church where he was actively involved with the church as a Eucharist Minister.

Survivors include wife of fifty-four years, Mary Porter of Lafayette; four sons, John R. Porter, Sr. and his wife, Lucretia, of Cankton, Eric Dwayne Porter and his wife, Stella, Samuel Porter, Jr. and Nathan Porter all of Lafayette; twenty grandchildren, Tyra Porter, John Porter, Jr., and his wife, Javon, Jeremy Porter, Jacoby Porter, Summer Porter, Halle Porter, Tylin Porter, Aiden Porter, McKenzie Porter, Dominique Broussard and her husband, Benson, Mark Webster and his wife, Victoria, Kelby Webster and his wife, Zakiya, Raphael Webster and his wife, Maleny, Erica D. Porter, Ashley Porter, Samuel Porter, III, Nina Porter, Timothy Porter, Trinity Porter and Dalon Porter; seventeen great grandchildren; and four sisters, Genevieve Porter of Lafayette, Rita Curley of Duson, Anita Porter and Vivian Mouton and her husband, Eric, all of Lafayette.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Oliver and Mable Fontenot Porter; three brothers, James Porter, Lawrence Porter and Henry Porter; and two sisters, Pearlie Mae Williams and Lorraine Darby.

A rosary will be prayed at 9:30 a.m. Monday in the funeral home.

The family requests that visiting hours be observed from 7:30 a.m. Monday until service time on Monday.

The family would like to extend their deepest appreciation to Heart of Hospice, Senior Care Home Health, his primary care physician, Dr. Milton Jolivette and Cardiovascular Institute of the South for all their excellent care and compassion.

Pallbearers will be Anthony B. Porter, Marshall Porter, Willis Curley, Jr., Eric Mouton, Jr., Kelby Webster, Sr. and Samuel Porter, III.
