Dorothy Jean Howard

Dorothy Jean was born in Tolar, Texas, to Bertha Mae Musick Dumas and Earnest Emmet Dumas at home as was the custom back then. She spoke of life growing up on the farm in Tolar and of growing their food or fishing in the creek. Many happy hours were spent with her brothers and a sister as well as several cousins and aunts and uncles from the Dumas family. She married Nathan Harvey Howard and after a few years they moved to Stephenville, Texas. She was a seamstress and worked sewing clothes in a clothing factory in Stephenville, Texas, during the 1960s and 1970s. She was a loving mother to her two daughters Shirley and Doris.
Dorothy is survived by her daughters Shirley Ruth Howard and Doris Ann Dromgoole and husband Tony, a brother Billy Dumas and wife Tommie. She is also survived by grandsons Kirk Leseman and wife Paige and great-granddaughter Adley, also Sean Leseman and wife Kira and a niece Patty Carroll and husband Gary. Dorothy’s brother James C. Dumas and sister LeeElva Lee have passed on before her as have many beloved cousins. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to The Antioch Historical Cemetery Fund, 801 Thomas Rd., Granbury, Texas, 76048.
Graveside services at Strouds Creek Cemetery approximately 3 miles north of Tolar will be held on Thursday, February 4, 2021 at 2:00 pm.
