Reverend Wilson was born in Griffin, Georgia on December 9, 1956. He is preceded in death by his father, Raymond Wilson. He was the pastor of Bethel Baptist Church.

Survivors include his wife Sherry; daughter, Susan Kindig and husband Trey; son, Jarrad Keith Wilson and wife, Brandi; his mother, Jean Ellis; grandchildren, Caleb Kindig, Logan Kindig, Hagan Wilson, Inman Wilson, Adelyn Wilson, Kimber Wilson; brother, Barry Wilson; sister, Sheila Jackson; step children, Andrea & Chris Benson and children Jackson & Savannah, Shelly & Jason Allen and daughter, Cara; several nieces and nephews.
