Mark Edward Baker, 69, 0f Wichita Falls passed away Sunday, January 31, 2021.
The family will receive friends between 5:30 and 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday, February, 3, 2021 at Owens and Brumley Funeral Home in Wichita Falls. Funeral services will be held at 5:30 p.m. on Thursday, February 4, 2021 in the chapel of the funeral home with Pastor Mike Rucker, officiating. Interment will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Friday, February 5, 2021 at Rosemont Cemetery under the direction of Owens and Brumley Funeral Home of Wichita Falls.
Mark was born on March 8, 1951 to James Edward and Era Hope (Bonner) Baker in Wichita Falls. He had two children. At the age of 17, Mark and his dad went bear hunting in Alaska and brought down a bear. Mark was a professional Rodeo clown, cowboy, truck driver and a jack-of-all-trades. He helped Brandi fix her truck on a couple of occasions. Mark was a civilian contractor in Iraq and seen Saddam Hussein get arrested. He loved animals and telling people amazing stories about his younger years He had a comment for any situation that would make people stop and say 'What?' and then just laugh. Mark enjoyed sitting outside and visiting with the neighbors. Most of all, loved being "Pops" to the grandchildren and "Papa" to Brandi. After a funny story about his great-granddaughter Serenity while cuddling her at her first Christmas, Mark gave her the nickname of "Popcorn". He will be missed by many family and friends.
Mark is survived by his son Luke Baker and wife Shelly; daughter LaDonna Baker and wife Amy Dillard; eight grandchildren: Sean, James, Brianna, Savannah, Sheridan. Seth, Sierra and Brandi; and one great- granddaughter Serenity.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorial may be made to Hospice of Wichita Falls 4909 Johnson Rd, Wichita Falls, Texas 76310.
