Obituary for William Joe Baker
Joe Baker, 76 died January 31, 2021 at 3:02 pm at Schneck Medical Center. Joe was born October 11, 1944 in Seymour to William Parker Baker and Mary Margaret Greenwell Baker.
Joe attended St. Ambrose Catholic School. He graduated from Seymour High School where he excelled at football, basketball, and track. He attended Indiana State University. On August 2, 1964 he married Patricia Sue VonDielingen at Immanuel Lutheran Church.
Joe was preceded in death by his parents and son William Jacob Baker.
He is survived by his wife of 56 years, Patty Baker. He is also survived by his daughter Rachel Bullard, son-in-law Baron Bullard and grandchildren Noah Bullard and Anna Bullard.
He and his wife owned and operated Baker Wholesale Electric from 1979 to 1997. Joe was a member of Immanuel Lutheran Church. He served as Chairman of the Congregation and on various boards within the Church.
Joe served on the board for Lutheran Resort Association for several years. He enjoyed many hours on the lake relaxing and fishing. Joe also enjoyed shooting trap and competed at the state level.
He enjoyed working outside and being on his tractor. Most of all, he enjoyed spending time with family and his grandchildren.
There will be a private burial at Lutheran Cemetery on Thursday, February 4, 2021 with Rev. Jimmy Rodriguez officiating. A funeral service will follow at Immanuel Lutheran Church at a later date.
