On Wednesday, January 27, 2021, at 7:55 am at her residence, in Simmesport, Louisiana, God saw the road was getting rough, the hills were hard to climb, he gently closed those loving eyes and whispered; peace be thine. The weary hours, the days of pain, the sleepless nights are past, the ever patient worn out frame has found sweet rest at last.
Sister Martha Anderson Lee was born on October 25, 1942, to the late Robert and Elizabeth Anderson, in Simmesport, LA.

She was baptized at an early age, at New Bethel Baptist Church, in Simmesport, LA. She later proved her devotion to the Lord by faithfully serving as youth Sunday School teacher and deaconess at Greater New Bethel Baptist Church, under the leadership of Rev. Chris I. Augustine, Sr.

She was united in marriage to David Lee, Jr., on November 2, 1960, and to this union five children were born.

She was employed as a cook at Sportsman’s Café and Dan & Evelynn’s Café until her health failed. She was a voting commissioner in Avoyelles Parish for many years. She volunteered at Mother Hubbard Head Start in Simmesport, LA.

Sister Martha was a devoted mother, aunt, grandmother, and family member who could always be relied upon to cheerfully provide help whenever and wherever needed. She was humble, sweet, kind and a person with great strength. Her favorite past time was spending time at Simmesport Council on Aging, watching westerns, being a Lakers fan, cooking, and her favorite quote was “NOW YOU KNOW”

Sister Martha leaves to cherish her memories: (4) loving and devoted children, Angelia Lee Sandoval(Jose) of Parker, Colorado, Patricia Lee Lowry(Michael) of Killen, Texas, David Lee III(Shanta) and Marvin James Lee, Sr.(Cassandra) of Simmesport, LA; (10) grandchildren, one of whom she reared, Shawnita Lee Scott(Ray), Amy Elizabeth Jones(Marvin), Lionel Jamaal Jones(Angel), Jose I. Sandoval, Alisha Rochelle Sandoval, Aliyah Marie Sandoval, Michael Anthony Lowry, Marcus Allen Lowry(Hayley), Shaletha Hartford and Marvin James Lee, Jr.; (2) bonus grandchildren, Charles George and Sandra George; (5) great-grandchildren, Shanice Raekisha Scott, Frederick Ray Scott, Jr., Yasmyn Hartford, Amarian Vaughn, and Marvin Vaughn III; (4) great-great grandchildren, Kameron Ray Scott, Cali Elise Compton, Kiam Scott, and Nyrielle Rochelle Valant; (5) sister in laws; a host of nieces – one whom she considered a “sister” Helen Anderson-Dancy; a host of nephews, cousins, and friends.

Sister Martha is preceded in death by one daughter, Alfreda Belinda Lee Jones; parents, Robert and Elizabeth Anderson; brothers, Henry Turner, Robert Anderson, Jr., Lee Anderson, and George Anderson; sisters, Ella A. Lofton and Mary A. Allen.

Please keep the Anderson/Lee family in prayer
