SOUTH BEND, IN -- Shawn David Smith, 48, of South Bend passed away at 5:05 p.m. Saturday, January 30 in Signature Healthcare following a lengthy illness. Shawn was born April 28, 1972 in South Bend to Cynthia (Augenstein) and Terry Smith and had lived in South Bend for the last seven years. He is survived by a daughter, Jaina Smith of Bloomington, IN; his parents, Cindi and Terry Smith of South Bend; his sister, Christy Smith of South Bend; and his brother, Adam Smith (Abbi) of Martinsville, IN.

Shawn was in the restaurant industry for over 25 years. He owned and operated a Noble Roman's franchise in Bloomington, IN for several years. In his free time, he loved to fish at Lake Griffy. He was an avid movie and music fan; he loved Star Wars and The Cure. He was a lifelong Notre Dame football fan.

There will be no visitation or service, and cremation will take place at Southlawn Cremation Services. Palmer Funeral Home - Welsheimer North Chapel is assisting the family with arrangements.
