Wesley Eugene Smith, 53, of Norwood, passed away Monday evening, February 1, 2021 at Presbyterian Main in Charlotte due to surgical complications.

Mr. Smith will lie in state at Edwards Funeral Home in Norwood from 5:00pm - 7:00pm Friday evening, February 5, 2021. A graveside service will be held at 2:00PM, Saturday, February 6, 2021 at Cedar Grove United Methodist Church Cemetery in Norwood. (Casual attire) Rev. Mary Hatley and Rev. Alex Willoughby will officiate. Following the graveside service everyone is invited to a Celebration of Wesley’s life with a skeet shoot beside the church on the family land.

Wesley was born December 1, 1967 in Stanly County to Walter Eugene and Brenda Kay Austin Smith, who survive of Norwood.

He was a 1986 graduate of South Stanly High School, where he was a stand out athlete. He graduated from Wingate University in 1990 where he obtained an Accounting degree. He was a Certified Public Accountant and partner in Moyer, Smith, Roller, P.A.. He was a member of Cedar Grove United Methodist Church. Wesley was loved and touched many throughout his life. He was the best husband, father, son, and brother. Wesley was an avid hunter and sports lover and spent his free time with his family. He was a great teacher and he enjoyed coaching his kids, as well as others. He will be missed by so many, but he is resting in the arms of the Lord.

In addition to his parents he is survived by his wife of 30 years, Leigh Ann Calder Smith of the home; daughter, Anslee Smith; sons, Wes Smith, Jr. and Ty Smith all of the home; brothers, Mark Smith and wife, Beth of Norwood and Jason Smith and wife, Angie of Harrisburg; sister, Sherri Swaringen and husband, Todd of Norwood. Also survived by many nieces and nephews.
