Obituary
Brother Randolph Moore was the seventh child born to the late McKinley and Sarah Moore on August 22, 1952 in Birmingham, Alabama.
Randolph was educated in the Birmingham City School system. He attended Western Olin High School where he was an outstanding basketball player, you could say it runs in the family.
Randolph worked security for Long Lewis Ford. He retired from Bymoco Metal Fabrication Company. After retirement he began his coaching career.
Randolph was known as “Coach Dan” to every child in the Ensley community and the surrounding areas of Birmingham. Coach Dan was gifted with an ability to unlock potential in kids that most people would not otherwise see. He was patient, consistent and made kids feel like they conquer anything after leaving his presence. The high fives, good job, discipline, do it again and again was his mantra. He had a smile out of this world and never met a stranger. Coaching was his life’s work.
Randolph was affectionately known to his family as Morris. He put just as much energy into his family as he did his coaching, always encouraging them to give their best and be responsible. On the other hand, at family gatherings you did not want to be on the losing side when him and his spade partner ran a “kitty”. To know him is to love him, a man of few words with powerful meanings.
Randolph was a man of many talents and traits, after coaching and mentoring kids, or helping family he had just enough time left in the day to cut a few yards.
Randolph was preceded in death by his parents, McKinley and Sarah Moore; four brothers, Frank, William, Jonathan Moore and McKinley Moore Jr; and one sister Althea Evans.
He leaves to cherish his precious memory: wife Faye Doris Moore; five children, Earnest High, Kimberly (Kendale) Allen, Randall (Tiffany) Moore, Lynette (Jamar) Wilkins and Reginald Moore all of Birmingham, Al.; one stepdaughter Marlana (Douglas) Lee eight grandchildren Jacyiah Moore, Sariah Moore, Randall Moore Jr., Kendall Fowler, Denali A. Luke, Neil Wilkins, Jaxon Wilkins and Landon Ace Moore; one step grandson Douglas Lee Jr.; two sisters Jacqueline (Eddie) Kindred and Dawn (Anthony) Jackson; two brothers, Calvin Moore and Lorenzo Moore; one aunt Sarah McCarroll of Cleveland, Oh. and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
