She was born December 4, 1941 in Lynchburg, the daughter of the late Richard C. Cox, Sr. and Mamie Harper Cox. Laura was a member of Lynch Station Baptist Church where she taught Sunday School for twenty-five years, played the piano/organ, and served in several other offices within the church. She retired as a secretary from The Lane Company with twenty-four years of service and formerly worked at Burlington Industries, Klopman Division as a customer service clerk.
She is survived by two sons, Christopher Weeks (Heather) of Altavista and Michael Weeks (Shelly) of Aydlett, NC; two daughters, Lisa Weeks (Richard) of Lynchburg, and Michelle Reed (Earl) of Lynch Station; a brother, Richard C. Cox, Jr. (Beverly) of Altavista; seven grandchildren, Ashley, Brandon, John, Matthew, Nathan, Victoria, and Devon; and six great grandchildren.
A funeral service will be conducted at 2:00 p.m., Thursday, February 4, 2021 at Finch and Finch Chapel, Altavista by the Rev. Timothy Wilde with interment to follow in Altavista Memorial Park.
The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service Thursday at the funeral home and other times at the residence of her son, Christopher, 1121 8th St., Altavista.
Viewing of Mrs. Pugh will be available 9:00 a.m. until 9:00 p.m., Wednesday at Finch and Finch, Inc. Funeral and Cremation Service, Altavista.
