Russell Hubert Dodson, also known as Russ or Bub, was born in Oklahoma City on December 16, 1937 to Lucille, (Russell) Dodson and to G. H. "Bunk" Dodson. He grew up in Sayre, Oklahoma and passed away at the age of 83 in Gallatin, Tennessee with his wife and family at his side. He married his lifelong best friend, Fran Fletcher, of Berlin, Oklahoma on March 18, 1956. He joined the Air Force in May of 1956 and was stationed at Kessler Air Force Base, Biloxi, Mississippi. There he taught basic electronics and radar systems. He was baptized into Christ at the Biloxi Church of Christ. He listened to Bible tapes and we did an in depth study of Revelations. In 1994 he graduated with a Bachelor's Degree in Industrial Arts from SWOSU. He was a HAM Radio Operator and had his pilot's license. We owned and operated Dodson Studio, Fran's Yarn Shop and the Play House Day Care in Cordell, Oklahoma. He designed and manufactured equipment for Cable Systems at his Weatherford, Oklahoma company, Com-Video.He is survived by his wife Fran, his children Randy Dodson and Karla Wilson of Richardson, Texas; adopted son Michael Gordy of Lawton Oklahoma; Ron (Bonny) Dodson, Westbrook, Maine; and daughter-in-law Rhonda (Haegele), Baytown, Texas. Seven grandchildren, Rusty Lee (Desiree); Ryan (Shawnell); Rachelle (Eric); Tiffany (JC); Tom (Carissa); Katie (Brock); and Carly (Matt). Thirteen great grandchildren, Ember, Tyler, Max, Michaelea, Luke, Jakob, Ethan, Zack, Andrea, Jude, Collin, Lucy and Taylor Nicole. Two sisters, Darla (Charlie) Williams and Jeanne Kay Dodson of Oklahoma City. Four cousins, Scott (Mary Lynn) Peters, Jim (Karen) Peters, Tom (Jackie) Peters and JoAnn (Jimmy) Hill. He was preceded in death by his son, Russell (Rusty) Lynn Dodson of Baytown, Texas, his parents and sisters Charlotte Ann Moseley and Judy Ray Dodson. Also preceding him in death were his grandparents, Arthur and Eva (Hohenshelt) Russell; Hubert and Rebecca (Parman) Dodson; Step grandpa Thomas A Gilbert; Aunts Willa Carter (Lee) Flue; Jewell (Jack) Peters; Minnie (AC) Presley; Uncle, Garth (Pearl) Russell; Cousins, Ralph Carter and Hugh (Barbara) Carter. Russell's final wish was to have his ashes scattered where he spent the happiest days of his childhood at Grandpa Russell's farm near Sayre. No date has been set.
