Sarah Thorpe married Lt Josiah Wheeler in the U.S. He died in 1782, NY. She and her 3 children, Josiah (17), Sarah (13) and Zolman (10) left the U.S. in Jul 1783 and arrived in New Brunswick in Aug 1783. She married Capt. Thomas Hanford on Feb 29, 1784 and had 2 more children. This is her testimony in her Am. Loyalist Claim, submitted Jan 27, 1787. She was Thomas' 3rd wife.
[There is a Thomas Hanford in the Old Burial Grounds but the dates given (1751-1826) don't match those for her husband. This may be him and the author was incorrect.]
