Walter “Scroogie” Franklin Parker, Jr., husband of the late Judy Jackson Parker, passed away Monday, February 1, 2021 at the age of 75. He was born in Mecklenburg County, VA on April 26, 1945, the son of the late Walter Franklin Parker, Sr. and Emma Sue Wiles Parker. Scroogie was a retired heavy equipment operator and truck driver. He was an avid racing enthusiast who spent many weekends at race tracks all along the east coast. Scroogie gave a helping hand and shared an abundance of knowledge to many local racers throughout the years.
He is survived by his children, Katherine Clayton of Timberlake, NC, Sarah Parker of Oxford, NC and Roger Lee Parker of Henderson, NC; sister, Annie Irene Cash; brother, Donald Parker and 7 grandchildren. In addition to his wife, Judy, he was preceded in death by his brother, Danny Parker and his grandson, James Walter "Jw" Wrenn.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, February 6 at Meadowview Memorial Park in Oxford, NC. The family invites all friends and family members to pay their respects during business hours at Watkins Cooper Lyon prior to the graveside service.
