Gary was born in Baxter Springs, Kansas, on December 30, 1940 to Oscar “Shorty” and Myrtle Violet (Gibson) Weaver. As a teenager, he learned to drive a back-hoe working for his uncle Cecil Gibson. After high school, this led to a job working for the Gas Company. He took great pride in keeping the gas infrastructure in the area running. He would often say he knew the town of Baxter like the back of his hand and tell you the location every gas line.
Gary is remembered for always making people smile and enjoyed the company of the large Weaver family. He enjoyed visiting and keeping in touch with many nieces, nephews and extended family members. His smile and kindness touched many lives and he will be missed.
Gary has been entrusted to Derfelt’s Baxter Chapel for cremation. Private family services will be held at GAR Cemetery, Miami, OK. Online condolences may be expressed at www.derfeltfuneralhomes.com.
