Jeanne Wright, 90, of Dorchester, IA, died Sunday, January 31, 2021, at Good Samaritan Center in Waukon, IA.

A private burial of ashes will be held later this spring at Waterloo Ridge Lutheran Cemetery in rural Dorchester.

Donna Jeanne Wright was born January 23, 1931, in Winona, MN, the daughter of Martin and Mildred (Strand) Gilberg.

She was raised on a farm and attended country schools before graduating from high school in Arcadia, WI. Jeanne received her teaching certificate from Luther College in Decorah, IA, and taught at country schools in Ridgeway and Dorchester, IA.

On June 19, 1955, she married Calvin “Chuck” Eugene Wright at Tamarack Lutheran Church in Arcadia.

They farmed in the Dorchester area and Jeanne also worked for TASC in Waukon and HCBS.

Jeanne was a member of Waterloo Ridge Lutheran Church in rural Dorchester, where she had been active in WELCA. She also volunteered at and was a director of the board for Camp Winnebago in rural Caledonia, MN.

An artsy lady, Jeanne did ceramics and made plates for many people for various occasions. She sold Tupperware for several years as well.

Jeanne enjoyed cooking, baking, and taking in the superb view from their house on the hill.

She is survived by her three children: Todd of Waukon, Jay of Dorchester, and Mary Lynn (Steve) Herold of Monona, IA; seven grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren.

Jeanne was preceded in death by her parents; her husband Chuck in 2015; brother Richard Gilberg; and her sister Betty Ann (Leslie, Jr.) Gartner.
