Wilson Fitzgerald 90, passed away January 16, 2021. He was born July 6, 1930 in Sulphur, Louisiana. Wilson lived a full and active life and celebrated his 90th birthday playing 2 hours of tennis at his beloved Los Angeles Tennis Club where he lived.

There is a great family reunion being celebrated today in heaven, as he is the last of his family to make heaven his home. His parents, Arthur Albarado and Vina Navarre Albarado, his sisters Yolande Martin Doucet, Tavia Benoit and his brothers John, Armany “Man” and Cleven “Nook” Albarado, as well as his beloved Roy Fitzgerald, and many, many family and friends preceded Wilson in death.

Although saddened by his passing, we are most grateful for the life this gentle, loving, kind, and generous man led while this side of heaven. I guess one thing he will be known for (other than his great character) is being a “legend” on the tennis court. He made it a point to play every day. He also won many tournaments and holds many titles travelling all over the world playing tennis. He was loved by his family and was also a very devout friend to so many. He leaves behind a large family in Southwest Louisiana and Texas and many friends—that were more like family—in California and around the world.

Wilson graduated from Sulphur High School in 1948. After serving his country in the US Navy, he attended McNeese State University where he played tennis and was #1 in singles for 3 years. After graduating McNeese State University in 1956, he moved to Los Angeles where he made his home for almost 65 years. Family and friends plan to hold a Memorial Service in both Los Angeles and Sulphur. Wilson Fitzgerald was an ‘Ace’ of a man and will be greatly missed…. ‘Game, Set and Match’

Anytime Uncle Wilson made the trip south, it was to enjoy and visit family ... we will eat, visit, have a time of sharing and I for see a toast in his honor.

A time of celebrating Him and family!!!

Memorial Service will be this Saturday, January 23, 2021 at 3pm, at his great niece Dianna Thibodeaux’s house, 4111 Thompson Rd in Carlyss. Great niece, Jody Barrilleaux will guide the family as we all Celebrate our dear Uncle and our Family.

Fond memories and expressions of sympathy may be shared at www.hixsonsulphurmemorial.com for the Fitzgerald family.
