Muncie: Billy Gene Matthews passed away on Saturday January 30, 2021 at Lynd Place Assisted Living Center. Billy Gene was born to Mary Helen (Flemings) and Charlie Matthews on Thursday May 9, 1946 in Loretto Tennessee. He proudly served his country in the United States Army from 1966 to 1968 earning the rank of Spec 4. Billy Gene worked at the Dayton Walther automotive castings plant for more than 15 years before retirement. He was a member of the Masonic Lodge, enjoyed being outdoors and had a gentle way that made him a friend to almost every animal that he came in contact with.

Survivors include his daughter Melissa (Thomas) Mieth, son Brian Matthews; grandchildren Josie, Jacob, Brianna; 3 great-grandchildren; brothers J. D. (Reathea) Matthews Bobby (Julie) Alfont, sisters Margarett (Johnny) Delk, Linda Weakley and many nieces and nephews and extended family.

Billy’s Parents Mary Helen and Charlie, sisters Wanda and Shirley preceded him in passing.

Funeral services will be held at Parson Mortuary and Cremation Center on Wednesday February 3, 2021 at 5:00 pm with pastor Ron Wilson officiating.
