Shirley Ann Backus, 79, of Greenwood, Indiana, passed away February 1, 2021. She was born May 18, 1941 in Shoals, Indiana.
Shirley graduated from Tech High School Class of 1958. She and her husband, Dennis Allen Backus, shared 36 years of marriage until his passing December 26, 1995.
Shirley was an Enrollee Agent for the IRS and worked 30 years with H&R Block. Shirley’s greatest pleasures included hosting Thanksgiving dinners, renovating and flipping houses.
Shirley is survived by her sons, Dwayne Backus and David Backus (Julia); grandchildren, Elena Reed (Harry), Daniel Backus (Elizabeth), Emily Backus, Sarah Thornton (Michael) and Gregory Backus (Ashley); sister, Emma Backus, Omalee McClain, and Patty Steinberger (George); brother, Ralph Moss (Alice) and 10 great-grandchildren.
Shirley is preceded in death by her husband, Dennis Allen Backus; mother, Hannah Lucille (Delong) Moss; brothers, Osby Moss, Gene Moss, Lowell Moss and Charlie Moss.
