Mary Louise Wells Rhodes, age 93, of Hays, passed away Saturday, January 30, 2021 at her home. She was born July 10, 1927 in Wilkes County to John Lee and Sallie Morton Wells. Mrs. Rhodes was of the Baptist Faith. She enjoyed jigsaw puzzles. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Claude Edgar Rhodes; brothers, Robert, Clarence, John, George and Roy Wells; sisters, Virginia Brewer, Alice Shatley, and Anne Lloyd; grandchild, Dustin Claude Rhodes; great grandchild, Ashley Nicole Watkins; son-in-law, Roy Lee Johnson.
Surviving are her children, James Richard Rhodes and spouse Edna, John Dwayne Rhodes and spouse Jeannie, Marie Jeanette Johnson, Emily Lee Hendrix and spouse Jonathan, Claudia Jean Higgins and spouse David, Elizabeth Landon Gambill and spouse Roger, Sally Faye Simpson, William Fredrick Rhodes, Ronald Henry Rhodes and fiancée Louann Fralish, Claude Edgar Rhodes, Jr. and spouse Roxanne; twenty-five grandchildren; forty-six great grandchildren; and twenty-six great great grandchildren.
Graveside service will be held 12:00 p.m. Friday, February 5, 2021 at Bethel Baptist Church Cemetery with Rev. Mike Bowers officiating. The family has requested no flowers and no food. Miller Funeral Service is in charge of the arrangements.
