Glenn A. Martin, born June 4, 1942, in Harrisburg, PA, to Arlene (Shumaker-Martin) Kennedy and Ambrose Martin, and was the loving younger brother to his sister, Sandra (Martin) Stuart.

He will always be remembered as a man of integrity with a tough exterior and a heart of gold. He was very dependable and always willing to help others, a true example of what a man should be, and mentor to many.

Glenn was a 1961 graduate of John Harris High School, Harrisburg, PA.

In August of 1961, he enlisted into the Army as a military policeman. He transferred his military service to the Army National Guard and eventually to the Air National Guard. In 1964, he became a Trooper with the Pennsylvania State Police, working most of his career in the Troop H Harrisburg, Criminal Investigation Unit. During his tenure, he also served as a firearms instructor and as an assistant fire marshal. Glenn retired from the State Police in January 1992, after 27 years of service. He retired from the 193rd WSSF Security Forces Squadron of the Pennsylvania Air National Guard, where he retired as a Master Sergeant (MSG) in 1993.

Glenn was a devout family man who was able to find balance between work and personal life. He married Nancy Ann (Zeigler) Martin in 1965. They had two children; Kelley Martin-Hawkins (Scott) and G. David Martin (LaDonna). He instilled his drive and work ethic into his children. Kelley became a Registered Nurse and David followed in his father's footsteps, becoming a State Police Trooper, as well. Glenn was sadly preceded in death by Nancy, who he lovingly cared for until her passing in 1998.

Following retirement, Glenn continued working for over ten years in home improvements and remodeling. He enjoyed hunting and cruising in his antique cars, especially his 1964 Chevy Impala SS.

He found love again with long time friend, Carol A. (Riding) Martin, and became a devoted stepfather to Karen Kruger-Lamb (Daniel) and Michael Kruger. Most of all, he loved being a "Pappy" and spending time with his grandchildren; Chelsea Hawkins-Velletri (Bryson), Carley Hawkins, Christopher Martin, Lauren Martin, Michael Daylor, and Daniele Kruger. He had many cherished nieces and nephews who were very fond of "Uncle Glenn."

Glenn was a member of the Pennsylvania State Police FOP Lodge #41, PA Association of Retired State Employees, Retired State Police Association, Harrisburg Hunters and Anglers, Grace United Methodist Church in Penbrook, a lifetime member of the NRA, and Blue Moon Cruisers, where he served as treasurer for the past 13 years.

Glenn passed away on January 29, 2021, peacefully at home, surrounded by his family.

A visitation will be held on Saturday, February 6, 2021, 9:30 am – 11:00 am, followed by a memorial service at Neill Funeral Home, 3501 Derry Street, Harrisburg, PA 17111.
