Michelle L. Nixon, 49, of Davenport, passed away, Friday, January 29, 2021, at the University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics, IA.

Visitation will be from 4-7 pm Wednesday, February 3, 2021, at Esterdahl Mortuary & Crematory, Ltd., Moline. Memorials may be made to the family for funeral costs or Norma Leah Ovarian Cancer Initiative. In accordance with restrictions, attendees are expected to wear a face mask and observe social distancing.

Michelle was born on April 10, 1971, in Moline, the daughter of Melvin “Ray” and Shirley May (Lynch) Matthews. She married Daniel Nixon on October 16, 2004, in Bettendorf, IA. She was a team leader for Alorica since 2012. Michelle was a member of Metropolitan Community Church of the Quad Cities where she was involved with Feed the Hungry and quilting club. She was on the volunteer staff for Quad City Pride Festivals. In 2020 she was honored as the first recipient of the Queen of Hearts for her dedication and service to the LGBTQ community.

Survivors include her husband, Dan Nixon; mother, Shirley Matthews; niece, Rachael (Alex) Ortega; nephew, Zachary Dusenberry; several aunts and uncles; several cousins, and 3 great nieces; special friends, Brittney & Patience James, and Kevin Gibbs; as well as many other special friends.

She was preceded in death by her father, Melvin “Ray” Matthews; sister, Starla, several aunts, uncles, father-in-law, Bruce Nixon.

Michelle’s family and friends would like to thank her for her selfless devotion by always putting others before herself.
