GORE, James Otis, of Highland, age 85, died Monday, February 1, 2021 at Saint Joseph Mercy Oakland Hospital. A service of remembrance will be held 7:00 P.M. Saturday, February 6, 2021 at the Plumb-Smith Funeral Home, G-1208 North Ballenger Highway, Flint Township. Cremation will follow. Mr. Gore will lie in state at the Plumb-Smith Funeral Home, where family will receive friends from 5:00 P.M. until the time of services Saturday. James was born October 28, 1935, in Clanton, Alabama, the son of Joseph Eugene and Modest C. "Lessie" (Collins) Gore. He married the love of his life, Bobbie N. Gurley, February 25, 1952. They celebrated 68 years of marriage together. James worked as a test driver at General Motors Proving Grounds for over 30 years. He was also a part of the Highland community, being owner and operator of Catalina Lanes for 16 years, a place where everyone was welcome and treated like family. Surviving are: 4 children, 3 sons, James R. Gore, husband to Phyllis (Melissa and Jacob), Michael T. Gore (Sara and Michelle), and Timothy C. Gore, husband to Vickie (Timmy, Matt, Kendra and Rob); daughter, Anna M. Anderson, wife to Jack (Nathan, Whitney, Austin and James). In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife Bobbie (Gurley), brothers Raymond, Joe, Charles, and Leslie, and sister Hazel.
