Thelma Clyde Walker Clark, 73, of Fitzgerald, Georgia, died Monday, February 1, 2021, at Pruitt Health in Fitzgerald, Georgia.

Graveside services was held 11 AM, Wednesday, February 3, 2021, in Evergreen Cemetery in Fitzgerald, with the Rev. Ronald Griner officiating.

Mrs. Clark was born June 10, 1947, in Fitzgerald, Georgia, to the late William Clyde & Mary Ruth Sumner Walker. She was the widow of Artimus Eugene Clark, Jr. She was well known for her work ethic. She was gifted with her hands and was a master seamstress. In her early years, she dreamed of being a hairdresser and practiced on her sisters and other family members. Her first public job was at Fitzgerald Underwear, where she worked for several years. She worked as a supervisor at Custom Sportswear and at Modern Fibers. Her latter working years were spent in Quality Control at Deep South. Although Thelma and Gene had no children, they loved their nieces and nephews as their own. Many great memories were made in their backyard, riding “Uncle Gene’s train” around the pool and learning to swim in that very pool. There were many Easter eggs hunted at their home as well. She was of the Baptist faith.

She is survived by her sisters: Virginia Walker Ethridge of Fitzgerald, Ann Walker Griner and husband, Philip of Fitzgerald; and Lynn Walker Whittle Heard and husband, Buck of Moultrie; sister-in-law, Gail Clark of Fitzgerald; as well as nieces and nephews: Norma Ethridge Holton (Coleman), Melissa Griner Kelly (Bruce), William Walker Whittle (Taylor), and Michael Scott Griner (Lindsey). In addition to her parents and her husband, she was preceded in death by two nephews: William Christopher Ethridge and James Carroll Whittle, III. The family wishes to extend a special thanks to the loving caregivers that ministered to Mrs. Clark over the last year of her life: Joy Sheppard, Kathy Sheppard, Bonnie Justice, Elaine Lane, Ola Mae Reliford, Carolyn Cutter, Tammy Jones, Katrina Jones, Cathy Whipple, and Latonya Jones.

Paulk Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
