James R. McCracken, son of Eva Naomi Jenks, and the late Roy Franklin McCracken; also preceded in death by his wife of 41 years, Alma Heath McCracken; brothers, Richard Wayne McCracken and Robert McCracken.

Survived by his daughter, Alice McCracken Fanning; step-children, David Strickland, Shirley Strickland, Wilma Strickland, and Frank Jackson; twelve grandchildren; sixteen great-grandchildren; siblings, Linda Mae Hovernale, Nancy Carol Foster, Nancy McCracken Galloway, Robert Eugene McCracken, Rebecca McCracken Hunter, Sheila Lantz Wallace, Eston Leo Lantz, Jr. and Virgie Lantz Heath.

Worked for Transylvania County for 25 years.
